American Sepp Kuss of Team Jumbo Visma leads teammates Jonas Vingegaard by eight seconds and Primoz Roglic by one minute eight seconds in the season’s final grand tour, the Vuelta Espana.
Earlier this week, Kuss led both men by several minutes. But, on Stage 16, Vingegaard dropped everyone, including Kuss. Today, on Stage 17, on a mountain pass enveloped in fog, Vingegaard and Roglic left Kuss to fend for himself with two very, very steep kilometers to go.
It’s one thing to drop a competitor. It’s another thing entirely to stick it to a teammate, especially one who has helped you win cycling’s biggest races.
It is not cool, it is poor form.
