After 13 stages at the Vuelta Espana, American Sepp Kuss of Team Jumbo Visma remains the current leader in the last of cycling’s three grand tour races.
But not only is Kuss leading the peloton at the Vuelta, his teammates are sitting in second and third place as well. Primoz Roglic, winner of this year’s Giro d’Italia, is in second place. Jonas Vingegaard, winner of this year’s Tour de France, is in third place.
If Kuss can hang on for another seven stages—and there’s no reason to think he can’t—he would become the second American to win the Vuelta (Chris Horner won in 2013 at age 41—the oldest person on record to win a Grand Tour.)
