BRENT BOOKWALTER MAKES THE LEAP FROM THE ROAD INTO THE BROADCAST STUDIO
The former professional cyclist is now part of Peacock's team covering the Tour de France
After retiring in 2021 from professional cycling, American Brent Bookwalter started his second and third careers.
For the second year in a row, he’ll join the broadcast booth on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service, to cover the Tour de France.
You can listen to my interview with Brent Bookwalter on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
Bookwalter spent more than a decade as a professional cyclist. He was part of Team BMC when its star rider, Australian Cadel Evans, won the Tour de France in 2011.
Now, he’s made that leap from the bike into the broadcast booth.
This summer, he will join Paul Burmeister, a longtime sports broadcaster for NBC, to host a daily pre-race and post-race coverage.
Bookwalter gives us a good look inside how the sausage gets made. It’s not easy.
The hours are grueling.
The work is challenging.
The clothing choices are…well, who wants to wear a suit and tie every day, especially when you’re up at 3am each morning?
Bookwalter is kind enough to take us inside the studio and share his journey.
For a deeper dive on Bookwalter’s life and career, check out my friend’s Andrew Vontz’s interview with him on his podcast, Choose the Hard Way.
Thanks for listening.
